Adani Skill Development Centre In Kerala Launches Training Programs To Empower Youth And Women

Vizhinjham: Adani Skill Development Centre (ASDC), a non-profit organization and a special project of the Adani Foundation, has initiated training programs focusing on port operations to align with national and international job opportunities. In anticipation of International Women’s Day, ASDC also rolled out a variety of skill development courses tailored for women.

The inauguration ceremony took place on March 6th, 2024, in Vizhinjham, Kerala. The port-related courses, such as Internal Transfer Vehicle (ITV) operation and Lasher training, have been meticulously crafted to cater to the evolving needs of ports and to ensure trainees acquire the necessary skills for efficient and safe port operations. Key stakeholders, including Mr. M. Vincent – MLA of Kovalam, Mr. Pradeep Jayaraman – CEO of Adani Vizhinjam Port, Mr. Vasant Gadhavi – Executive Director of Adani Foundation and ASDC, and Dr. Anil Balakrishnan – CSR Head, were present at the event, which saw the participation of over 60 eager trainees.

The courses aim to equip young individuals with practical skills to enhance their employability both nationally and internationally. By offering hands-on training and theoretical knowledge in vital areas of port operations, ASDC seeks to bridge the gap between industry demands and workforce capabilities. Mr. M. Vincent, MLA of Kovalam, applauded the team for introducing new port-related courses. Mr. Pradeep Jayaraman, CEO of Adani Vizhinjam Port, emphasized the significance of ASDC’s efforts in addressing the need for skilled labor, especially in rapidly developing ports like Vizhinjam.

Furthermore, the center welcomed over 100 female candidates eager to upgrade their skills and explore better livelihood opportunities in celebration of International Women’s Day. It showcased a diverse range of courses tailored to meet the participants’ needs, including General Duty Assistant (Nursing Assistant), Data Entry Operator with AI tools, stitching, and beauty therapy. Through these programs, Adani Skill Development Centre aims to equip women with the necessary tools and knowledge to seize opportunities and make meaningful contributions to society.

Mr. Vasant Gadhavi, Executive Director of Adani Foundation and Adani Skill Development Centre, expressed the Foundation’s commitment to providing the youth and women of the country with the resources needed to excel in their chosen fields. Skill development, he emphasized, is crucial in preparing trainees for employment or entrepreneurial ventures, thereby fostering economic growth in the region.

Adani Skill Development Centre offers high-quality vocational training and skill development programs across India, aiming to empower individuals and communities. With cutting-edge facilities and industry-aligned curriculum, the center bridges the gap between education and employment, enabling participants to realize their full potential. To date, ASDC has trained over 1.40 lakh youths, boasting a commendable 68% livelihood ratio since 2016. The center offers a wide array of over 70 industry-aligned courses accessible through their online portal and training centers nationwide.
